US President Cancels South America Trip to Monitor Syria Response
US president has canceled his trip to South America originally planned for this week. The White House stated that the president Trump will instead stay in the United States to oversee American response to Syria attack. White House Press Secretary, Sarah Sanders said in the statement Vice President Mike Pence will attend the 8th Summit of the Americas in Trump’s place.
The surprise change to the scheduled trip came amid US president continued effort to negotiate trade deals and his continued anger over the special counsel’s Russia probe.
Monday evening, Donald Trump met with military officials in the White House to discuss over the administration’s response to a chemical attack carried out by the Syrian government against its own people.
The countdown begins for possible US military action. It was just a year ago, US Tomahawk missiles pounding a Syrian airfield. Three days after the images of a chemical attack emerged and with the new images US president making clear a US military strike could happen any time.
US president Mr. Trump said, “What we do with respect the horrible attack that was made near Damascus. And it will be met forcefully.” This time the president may not have to go it alone. French president Emanuel saying he wants a strong and joint response to the suspected attack which Britain prime minister Teresa May called ‘reprehensible’.
US destroyer now in the eastern Mediterranean with missiles strikes possible from submarines and B-2 bombers as well.
